Have You Heard All The Talk About The HCG Diet?

By Riley T. Simonis

A low-calorie intake paired with special supplement drops is known as the HCG diet. On a low calorie diet, the body uses up the day's calorie intake earlier and begins to burn fat as a source of fuel instead. Low calorie diets alone force the body to burn more fat once calories run out, but the addition of the special drops helps to maintain muscle mass during this process. The HCG drops used in the diet help to alleviate any ill effects usually associated with a low-calorie diet such as fatigue and irritability. The body's system of fat management, including the use of calorie consumption, is reorganized with the HCG diet. The implication phase, the training of the metabolism and the maintenance phase are the three stages included in the special diet plan.

The special diet starts off with a high calorie intake while beginning use of the HCG drops supplement. The first phase of the diet helps to re-set the body's natural way of processing calorie intake and burning fat, which will be utilized in the low-calorie portion of the diet. The higher calorie intake at the start of the diet also helps to reduce hunger during the low-calorie portion of the diet. During the second part of the special diet, the body is beginning to use stored fat as fuel and the initiation of a low-calorie diet will help to ensure that it continues to do so.

The final portion of the diet, known as the maintenance stage, begins when the drops have successfully altered the body's metabolism. When the maintenance portion of the special diet begins, drops are no longer needed as calorie intake returns to normal.

Calorie intake, however, must be slowly raised as to not disrupt the metabolism and the body's new process of burning fat. Closely monitoring weight in the maintenance phase of the diet will help to keep the body's new fat-handling procedures during the increase of calorie intake.

Since the diet plan includes low calorie intake, it is suggested that the physical activity portion of the diet consist only of light exercise. Heavy exercise could cause fatigue and starvation as the body uses the limited calories it has for energy faster. There are no known side effects of the program and the hormones in the drops will not cause any interference with menstrual cycles. Pregnant women are not advised to use the program, as they are likely to see little to no results because of higher calorie intakes necessary for nourishment during pregnancy.
