Reasons for the Popularity of Non-Invasive Procedures

By Brentz Walker

Non-invasive procedures have been rising lately according to statistics. Less invasive types of cosmetic processes are more popular lately, although tummy tucks and breast augmentations show no signs of slowing down. In cosmetic surgery, non-invasive procedures are typically performed via injection or laser. There are many causes of the acceleration.

You have two choices with cosmetic surgery. Staying inside for the healing process is an option. You could also just go on with your daily life, but other people could see that you have had a procedure, if there are still bandages or physical signs of another kind. Secrecy is not really a practical option here.

On the other hand, non-invasive procedures are pretty hard to notice when done well. People will often not know what it is, but will be able to tell that you look better in some way. To have the procedure be less noticeable, using a non-invasive option like this is advised.

Healing alone at home is not an option many of us have, due to time constraints. The idea that you can schedule a non-invasive procedure on a Friday afternoon and return to work on Monday is extremely appealing. In fact, the convenience factor is huge when comparing non-invasive procedures to standard cosmetic surgeries. The fact that it doesn't take much time makes it so that a patient can slip in for a fast Botox treatment at lunch time. Using your vacation time to heal from a more serious surgery is not the best option for many, and they would rather heal up in a day or 2 at home on their days off after a laser treatment.

Risks are involved with any type of procedure. The general anesthesia is the greatest possible risk involved in the process. In some cases, an adverse reaction can occur that can possibly be serious. Waivers need to be signed when this is used. One can eliminate the risk associated with general anesthesia by having a simple procedure done that is non-invasive in nature.

Because of a variety of factors, including the fact that there seems to be a recession going on, non-invasive procedures have been going up, and more serious cosmetic surgeries are going down. The long and short of it is, it's less expensive to have a non-invasive procedure done. Health insurance does not generally cover cosmetic procedures; they are considered elective. Many people need to save up for a procedure and, when the economy is tight, they may feel more comfortable setting that money aside for other needs.

On the other hand, having a non-invasive procedure will cost much less. The choice between an expensive surgery and a quick Botox injection that takes 10 minutes is pretty clear. A good less expensive alternative when economic times are not easy is a non-invasive procedure.

Surgical options are often not that much different from a non-invasive method. A natural, more youthful appearance is usually the desired result of any procedure. Non-invasive procedures can do a great job at adding hair, or making the line between your eyebrows much less prominent, for example. They can be as fast as 10 minutes, have no general anesthesia and are nowhere near as risky as other options. Many times you can even return to work. For those who weigh the pros and cons, many decide that the better price, the faster healing, and the desired results can be achieved by non-invasive means. These are some of the reasons that non-invasive procedures are on the rise at this time.
